It is official. Or there was a horrible navigation problem and the skipper needs an excuse. Upon reaching the Dominican Republic Nadagato has turned south instead of north. It was decided to skip the US east coast and head to Panama instead. The passage south was uneventful, Nadagato lies safe and sound in Panama awaiting the cruising season there. On the NEW agenda are the San Blas islands, Boca Del Toro, the Panama Canal, and much more! Check the open segments as we are updating the new 2008 - 2009 schedule as we will not be operating in the Caribbean this season but will be operating in Central America!

Leaving St. Maarten is hard to do, but I have had the boat in the Hurricane belt for quite a few years now. After a long evaluation of where to go next a decision has finally been reached. If I was to head south through the Caribbean then West to the Panama Canal.. or if I was to head to Europe...

I would for ever feel as though I missed the East Coast of the USA. So! Here we go. Starting around May 15th Nadagato will be making passage back to the US east coast. The passage back to the East Coast will include stops in the USVI, BVI, Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic, and the Bahamas.

I am happy to speak very frankly about sailing, living aboard, living in the Caribbean, leaving the US system, or any other topic you want to discuss. I have watched many people come and go from boating in the time I have been living aboard, both those living on smaller boats and those living on 110 foot mega yachts. It seems that many people come expecting tropical paradise and are shocked to find paradise is not always what you see in the pictures but includes some mosquitoes, huge bugs, poverty, stray dogs, crime, drugs, and many other problems left out of the tourist photos.
