Tricks of the Trades is a great book for learning the wind, weather, and sea patterns around islands. There is a bunch of information in the book along with some good stories. This is from the same author who wrote The Gentlemans Guide to the Passage South, and most of the information in Tricks of the Trades is also in this guide book. The guide book also includes a how to (anchorage to anchorage) for the passage from the northern Bahamas to the Virgin Islands. This is a good book showing an island hopping method of going 1000 miles to wind! If you are going to be sailing in the Bahamas you may as well order the guide that also contains Tricks of the Trades.
