Tortuga Blanca was a rare find while walking docks on lake Keystone near Tulsa Oklahoma.Â I was living in Tulsa at the time and was in search of a sailboat that had standing headroom and some modest living quarters.Â Upon finding Tortuga Blanca I found that the Chrysler 26 was built like a rock and had 6'2" standing headroom forward to the head area on the boat.Â I was in love instantly.

Other features that made me buy were the spacious cockpit and aft storage area.Â Tortuga Blanca was rigged with roller furling which impressed me at the time.Â To make a long story short I purchased her and a trailer.

I have watched many people come and go from boating in the time I have been living aboard, both those living on smaller boats and those living on 110 foot mega yachts. It seems that many people come expecting tropical paradise and are shocked to find paradise is not always what you see in the pictures but includes some mosquitoes, huge bugs, poverty, stray dogs, crime, drugs, and many other problems left out of the tourist photos.
