Generator

The generator is a Onan MDKUB 6.5 KW unit installed in the aft lower section of the engine room pod.

Operation

To start the generator:

120V SELECTOR SWITCH in OFF position
GEN CONTROL switch ON (located on side of navigation station seat)
Press the PRE HEAT switch for 10-15 seconds
NOTE: DO NOT HOLD START SWITCH ON TOO LONG THIS WILL BURN UP THE GENSET STARTER MOTOR
Press the START switch until generator is running
Assure cooling water flow from starboard stern area
Let generator warm up for 3 minutes
Assure all a/c switches are OFF on the control panel
120V SELECTOR SWITCH to GEN position
Turn on 120V load while monitoring amp draw

To stop the generator:

Turn off all 120V switches
120V SELECTOR SWITCH to OFF
Press STOP switch until generator is completely stopped

Recommended Maintenance

TASK -- Frequency
Oil level -- daily
Coolant level -- daily
Belt tensions -- daily
GVI -- daily
Run for 30 minutes -- Weekly
Clean sea strainer -- Bi Weekly
Oil change -- 150 Hrs
Oil filter -- 150 Hrs
Racor fuel filter -- 150 Hrs
Secondary fuel filter -- 300 Hrs
Coolant change -- yearly

It seems that many people come expecting tropical paradise and are shocked to find paradise is not always what you see in the pictures but includes some mosquitoes, huge bugs, poverty, stray dogs, crime, drugs, and many other problems left out of the tourist photos.
